                   MPPA Mentorship Program

The purpose of the MPPA Mentorship Program is to provide guidance within our membership to enhance and encourage your photographic and business skills. This is a benefit for members, which is included in your yearly membership.

When applying for this program, every effort will be made to pair you with someone who can help you. It is up to each person to commit to meet and work together. Mentorships will be for a period of 6 months.

Examples of areas you may need help: Posing, lighting, workflow, bookkeeping, families, children, photoshop, retouching, marketing...

Print Competition Mentorship:

MPPA is pleased to offer assistance to members wanting to enter Print Competition. You will be paired with a mentor who can help you select your best images for competition as well as helping guide and prepare you for competition. ALL work MUST be completed by the exhibitor with the mentor used only for guidance and suggestions. This is a great way to grow your skills and meet people who are as excited about competition and learning as you are.

What exactly is the MPPA Service Award or Montana Fellowship Degree program?

The intent of the two programs is to encourage more participation among ALL MPPA members, and in turn, rewarded them for their achievements and service to the association.

The MPPA Service Award requires only 25 Service or Executive Service points to earn!

Have you ever attended a MPPA Annual Convention?  How about a “Montana Monday” class?  Paid your Membership dues by February 1stannually?  Or have you participated in Print Competition?  If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then you could be earning points towards your Service Award and Fellowship Degree Programs!

Why is it important to earn these achievements?

Earning a MPPA Service Award or Fellowship Degree will also help you towards meeting requirements needed to earn Master Degrees or Certifications with Professional Photographers of America (PPA).  The value of those degrees can:

  • help justify and explain your prices with customers
  • help market yourself and your business above “hobbyist”
  • recognize your accomplishments with others in our industry
  • push yourself to continue to learn and grow as an artist and business person

How hard is it to earn an award or degree?

It is Easy!!!  Even if you are new to the industry, you can earn points just by attending any MPPA seminars and conventions!  Points can also be earned by volunteering to help at events or by entering Print Competitions.

Points earned will be retroactive as far back in years as the records of the association or proof from the applicant can be provided.  So, please listeverything you have participated or earned while you have been a member of MPPA!  You maybe surprised how fast the points will add up!

 Who can earn these?

The degree programs are available to ALL MPPA members, no matter what membership level or level of photographic proficiency.

MPPA wants to help photographers further their photographic knowledge and develop healthy business practices in order to succeed.  Through participation, you can push yourself to achieve obtainable goals in an ever-changing industry, and be recognized for your accomplishments.  Good Luck!
